SUMMER INTENSIVES
Preschoolers
Young Buds: Preschool
This group will focus on building the foundational Social Thinking® concepts, including: Group Plan, Body in the Group, Listening with Whole Body. This group embeds reciprocity, emotional support and sharing, and flexibility. It is designed for is designed for young preschoolers who need more support due to focus, processing speed, and/or rigidity.
Monday June 24 – Thursday June 27th, 2024 10am-noon.
Rate for 8 hours of intervention is $600.00
Social Adventurers: Preschool – JK
Social Adventurers will focus on building the foundational Social Thinking® concepts for interacting with peers. Concepts include social observation, play skills, perspective-taking, being a part of the group, and problem solving. We will share our imaginations going on adventures and completing group challenges. This program uses elements of the We Thinkers!™ Curriculum.
Monday June 3 – Thursday June 6, 2024 10am-noon
Rate for 8 hours of intervention is $600.00
Lower Elementary
Take-1, Take 2!: Rising Kindergarten – 2nd Grade
Lights, camera, action! will focus on collaborating with peers, recognizing the
perspective of others, thinking creatively, and being flexible. Children will engage in role playing as a means to improve their social understanding. This program uses stories from We Can Make It Better by Elizabeth Delsandro.
Monday June 10 – Thursday June 13, 2024 3-5pm
Rate for 8 hours of intervention is $600.00
Story Book Adventures: Rising Kindergarten – 1st Grade
Social learning will be explored through stories, art, drama and pretend play. This fun-filled program will heavily incorporate core concepts of Social Thinking® using familiar stories.
Monday July 8 – Thursday July 11, 2024 1pm-3pm
Rate for 8 hours of intervention is $600.00
Social Smarts Academy – School Brain: Kindergarten – 2nd Grade
Children will learn the thinking process behind social skills as they begin to understand the importance of thinking about others. Through group activities, they will practice fundamental skills and strategies that will teach them how to participate in a group, read cues to guess thoughts, expand their social-emotional vocabulary, understand the perspective of their peers, and adapt their behaviors across settings.
Public and Private School Students:
2-day Intensive (Kindergarten-2nd grade): Thursday August 15 – Friday August 16, 2024. 1-3pm
Rate for 4 hours of intervention is $300.00
Private School:
4-Day Intensive (Kindergarten-2nd grade): Monday August 19-Thursday August 22nd, 2024. 1-3pm.
Rate for 8 hours of intervention is $600.00
Upper Elementary
Lights, Camera, Action!: Rising 3rd – 5th Grade
This group will focus on collaborative decision-making, thinking creatively, and flexible thinking to produce an original show! Using Story Grammar concepts, children will engage in collaborative thinking to select a setting, theme, plot and resolution in the story. Concepts of Social Smarts will be embedded into the group to support the framework for collaborative thinking.
Monday June 17 – Thursday June 20, 2024 3pm-5pm
Rate for 8 hours of intervention is $600.00
WEEKLY SUMMER GROUPS
Upper Elementary
Gamechangers: 8 – 11 year olds
Students will focus on IDEATION in movement and tabletop games, COMMUNICATION, COLLABORATION, and SPORTSMANSHIP! Using known and familiar materials and games, students will work together to create a novel game, exercising ideation, organization, and communication. This group will work on shared roles and reading cues to support friendships, neighborhood and recess play time!
Meets for 6 sessions: 5-6pm on Tuesday, June 4th, June 11th, June 18th, June 25th, July 13th, and July 23rd, 2024.
Rate is $75.00 per session. Pre-registration is required.
Lower Elementary
TITLE OF GROUP HERE?: 5 – 7 year olds
Children will learn the thinking process behind social skills as they begin to understand the importance of thinking about others. Through group activities, they will practice fundamental skills and strategies that will teach them how to participate in a group, read cues to guess thoughts, expand their social-emotional vocabulary, understand the perspective of their peers, and adapt their behaviors across settings.
Meets for 6 sessions: 3-4pm on Thursday, June 6th, June 13th, June 20th, June 27th, July 18th, and July 25th, 2024.
Rate is $75.00 per session. Pre-registration is required.
Middle School
Game Night: Middle School
Students will focus on conversational skills and social engagement through game play. Concepts of ‘Thinking of Others’ through shared topics, managing talk time, and collaborative work with game play will be embedded.
Meets for 6 90-minute sessions: 6-7:30pm on Tuesday June 4th, June 11th, June 18th, June 25th, July 13th, July 23rd, 2024.
Rate is $110.00 per session. Pre-registration is required.
To participate in a group, your child must have participated or must currently be participating in assessment or therapy with RVA Pediatric Therapy & Consulting, OR they must participate in an Initial Consultation to ensure that the group matches your child’s level/needs and to support the development of a plan. Participation in an Initial Consultation does NOT guarantee that the group will fit your child’s needs. The Initial Consultation will provide feedback accordingly with recommendations for next steps, which may or may not include the group.
